Warchest Companion

Download for Windows Free, about 7 MB, no installer. Open source: read the code on GitHub.

Getting started

1. Download and run it. It sits in the tray next to the clock (click the ^ arrow if you don't see it).
2. Connect it to your Warchest account. It opens warchestmod.com, you sign in with Discord and approve the code the app shows. No password goes into the app.
3. Point it at your game folder if it didn't find it: right-click the tray icon > Game folder, and pick the folder with Logs and WTF in it.
4. Turn chat logging on in game: type /chatlog. The game then writes chat to Logs\WoWChatLog.txt, which is what the app reads.

Your Crossroads character needs to be linked with /wc link (the Add-on badge): only add-on-confirmed characters relay Trade chat, and the lines go to that character's room.

What it sends, and what it never sends

• Only Trade channel messages: who said it and what they said, as everyone in Trade saw it. Item names become item links.
• Never: whispers, guild, officer, party, raid, say, other channels, your own settings or anything else on your computer. The app picks out Trade lines itself, and Crossroads checks again.
• Gold sellers and other blocked messages stay in the game. If several players relay the same Trade channel, each message shows once.

"Windows protected your PC"

New apps show this warning until enough people have run them. Warchest Companion is signed, so the window names its publisher. Click More info, check it says the publisher you expect, then Run anyway. You can check the download against the checksum on the GitHub release page.

Stopping it

• Pause: right-click the tray icon > Pause relaying.
• Disconnect a computer: on your Account page, or in the app's menu.
• Remove it: quit it, untick Start with Windows, and delete the file. Its settings are in %APPDATA%\Warchest Companion.
